April 22-24

  • UTRGV University Productions presents Red, a drama by John Logan, at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday, with ASL interpretation for the Saturday evening performance. It will be staged in the Allbert L. Jeffers Theatre house in the campus Liberal Arts Building South. April 23 & 24

  • The UTRGV Symphony Orchestra presents Bruckner’s “Romantic” Symphony No. 4 in two performances. The first performance is on Saturday, April 23, at 2 p.m. in the UTRGV Performing Arts Complex, 1201 W. University Dr., Edinburg.  It is followed on Sunday, April 24, at 2 p.m., at the TSC Performing Arts Center, 90 Taylor Ave. in Brownsville. The winner of the Student Solo Competition will be featured at the performances. Admission is $5; tickets will be sold at the door.

April 24

  • The UTRGV Patron of the Arts program presents award-winning pianist Kevin Kenner in a Distinguished Artist Series performance. It begins at 3 p.m. at the UTRGV Performing Arts Complex, 1201 W. University Dr. in Edinburg. General admission is $10 and $5 for seniors and students. Tickets will be sold one hour before the performance at the box office. April 25

  • Enjoy the students of Dr. Joel Pagán in their Spring Viola/Violin Recital at 7 p.m. at the UTRGV Library Auditorium, 1201 W. University Dr., Edinburg. Admission is free. Visit utrgv.edu/patron for more information.

April 29

  • The Valley Symphony Orchestra, under the direction Maestro Peter Dabrowski, will present the music of Star Wars in its season finale concert. Patrons can receive the latest information and sign up for the VSO’s email list at valleyorchestra.org or by calling the VSO office Monday through Friday between 12 and 5 p.m. All performances take place at 8 p.m. at the McAllen Performing Arts Center.

April 30-May 1

  • Seymour the Troll by David Carren rounds out the season for the UTRGV University Theatre. A production for young audiences, Saturday’s performance is 7:30 p.m. with ASL interpretation, and May 1 is a 2 p.m. matinee. It will be staged in the Allbert L. May 12

  • The UTRGV School of Music and Quinta Mazatlán will host Music in the Park at 600 Sunset in McAllen, at 6:30 p.m., featuring Tish Hinojosa, Mexican-American singer and songwriter. The public can sit on provided lawn chairs or bring a blanket and their own meal for a picnic on the lawn. Food vendors will also be available. In the event of inclement weather, concerts will be moved indoors.

June 4-5

  • The UTRGV Ballet Folkloric presents Ouroboros: Re-Imagining Mexican Folk Dance on at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and for a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. at the UTRGV Performing Arts Complex, 1201 W.
