  • Deadline is June 10 for the 2022 Texas Regional Bank McAllen Amateur Golf Championship at the Champion Lakes Golf Course, 2701 S. Ware Rd., to be held on Friday, June 24, through Sunday, June 26. Visit championlakesgolf.com for rules, fees and information or to sign up online.

June 10-11 & 17-18

  • The Pharr Community Theater opens its 14th season with a rowdy western musical, The Four Bills, from the book by Barry Glasser, music by David Spear and lyrics by David Fox. The show is equivalent to a PG rating. Admission will be $5 for any student, veteran or senior citizen, or $8 general admission. Tickets will only be sold at the show starting one hour before curtain, on a first come first, serve basis. Show date locations and times are as follows: May 28, 3 p.m., Pepe Salinas Auditorium, 1011 W. Kelly Ave. Pharr; June 10-11, 7:30 p.m., PSJA ISD Memorial HS Performing Arts Auditorium, 800 S. June 16-17

  • South Texas College is hosting the 14th Annual South Texas Ceramic Showdown, “The Future is Fluid. Is Function Fixed?” with an exhibit on view through July 1 at the college’s STC Pecan Campus Art Gallery, 3201 W. Pecan Blvd., Bldg. B in McAllen. There will be a reception and two days of demonstrations and art talks on June 16 and 17.On June 16, clay demonstrations will be held in the STC Ceramic Studio, B115, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. An art talk with Carla Hughes and Julian Rodriguez will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. in the STC Building B Gallery, along with an exhibition reception from 6 to 8 p.m. On Friday, June 17, clay demonstrations will continue from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Ceramic Studio, B 115.   • The next Edinburg Summer Nights Concert will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. at 201 N. 7th Ave. Parking can be found at City Hall, 415 W. June 20-22

  • Youth can learn the basketball skills of a champion and train with the NBA G League Most Valuable Player, Trevelin Queen. Registration is now open for the 2022 RGV Vipers Champ Camp. Geared for ages 6 to 13, camp will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day, and cost is $150 per child. The first 50 kids to sign up receive a free Vipers basketball. Registration closes June 15. July 4

  • McAllen’s 94th Annual Independence Day Celebration begins with an early morning patriotic program at 8 a.m., followed by the Main Street Parade at 9 a.m. along Main St. from Houston Ave. to Beech Ave. and then the Freedom Festival at Archer Park, 101 N. Main, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for classic family fun, music, food, and games. The day ends at Municipal Park, 1921 N. Bicentennial Blvd., from 6 to 10 p.m., for more food, live music and entertainment. Starting at 9 p.m., the H-E-B Concert in the Sky fireworks extravaganza will go live from Municipal Park; listen to the fireworks set to patriotic music by tuning in to 710-AM KURV.

July 16
