June 13 – The Freedom of Information Foundation of Texas (FOIFT) is holding an Open Government Seminar from 1 to 4:30 p.m. featuring training in state open meeting and public records laws. The event will be held at the County Commissioners Court Chambers, Annex III, 100 E. Cano St., in Edinburg. Reservations are encouraged, but not required. June 15 – The RGV Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s Women of Distinction awards dinner will be held at the Mission Event Center from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $50 with reserved tables at $600. Sponsorships are available. For more information call the RGVHCC office at 956-928-0060.
June 21 – Join in the book discussion of The Library Book at Speer Memorial Library, located at 12th and Kika De La Garza in Mission at 6:30 p.m. and is open to the public. August 27 – The International Museum of Art & Science (IMAS) presents its 43rd Collage Annual Gala to be held at the museum from 6 to 11 p.m. The black-tie gala fundraiser features silent and live auctions, an open bar and live entertainment. Sponsorships and donations of live and silent auction items are being sought by the Collage committee. Individual tickets will be available in early July.
