August 13

  • Runners of all levels can sign up for the Food Bank RGV’s 5K Color Bashfundraiser at the Edinburg Municipal Park. It begins at 8 a.m. and ends when all runners have crossed the finish line. There will be Zumba to warm up, a D.J. and vendors along with finisher medals and age group awards. Sign-up online, or late registrations will be accepted on-site at the event.   • The public is invited to share stories during “Town Hall: Local Disasters,” from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Museum of South Texas History, 200 N. Closner Blvd., Edinburg. To collect data on local disasters, MOSTHistory staff will conduct interviews with visitors and enter the stories into the museum’s collections. Those who cannot attend can submit local stories and photographs using the Local Disaster Data Collection Form online at mosthistory.org/local-disaster-data-collection-form. To offer an oral history interview or donate artifacts such as documents and original photographs, contact museum registrar Luna Galvan at lgalvan@mosthistory.org or call the museum at 956-383-6911.

August 13

  • CASA of Hidalgo County has put out the call for the public to put on their capes and spandex and head over to Fireman’s Park in McAllen for the 11th Annual CASA Superhero 5K Run. This annual fundraiser is open to all to run or walk at their own pace, and support CASA’s advocacy for children and families in the foster care system. There will be water stations throughout the trail, food and drinks, with breakfast to be included for runners. Vendors will be present, and the Palm Valley Animal Shelter will be in attendance, along with the local fire department and a fire engine.  The race is set to begin at 8 a.m. with set-up at 7 a.m. Learn more and register for the CASA Superhero Run at endurancesplits.redpodium.com/casa-superhero-5k.

  • The next Edinburg Summer Nights Concertwill be held from 6 to 10 p.m. at 201 N. 7th Ave. Parking can be found at City Hall, 415 W. University Dr. Vendors are invited to participate, including artist, craft, beverage and food vendors. Interested persons should review details and sign up at edinburgarts.com/vendors.

  • The International Museum of Art & Science(IMAS) presents its 43rd Collage Annual Galato be held at the museum. The unique setting among the art exhibitions offers silent and live auctions, an open bar and live entertainment. IMAS is accepting sponsorship and donations of live and silent auction items.
