August 27 – The International Museum of Art & Science (IMAS) presents its 43rd Collage Annual Gala to be held at the museum from 6 to 11 p.m. The black-tie gala fundraiser features silent and live auctions, an open bar and live entertainment. Sponsorships and donations of live and silent auction items are being sought by the Collage committee. Individual tickets will be available in early July. August 28 – To learn more about raptor identification, Bentsen-RGV State Park will host a Raptor Identification Workshop on Sunday, Aug. 28, from 1 to 4 p.m. for field identification of birds of prey in flight. Then join the naturalists to volunteer for the annual Hawk Watch count that begins Sept. 1 and runs through October. To later participate in the watch, ride the park tram Thursday through Sunday and meet at the Hawk Tower from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Bring binoculars, a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent and drinking water. September 16 – The Women’s Committee of the RGV Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the City of Edinburg will host the annual Latina Leadership Conference at the DHR Conference Center in Edinburg. Key topics include Protecting Your Legacy, Healthcare Post Dobbs – the decision that Overturned Roe vs. wade; Mental Wellness, Adapting to Technology, and more. October 20 –The Idea Public Schools annual dinner and auction fundraiser, “Reach for the Stars,” begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Mission Events Center, 200 N. Shary Rd. The black-tie formal event features a complimentary valet service and music along with the dinner and auction – all followed by an after party. Sponsorships range from $2,500 to $50,000.
