September 2 & 16

  • The UTRGV School of Art & Design will host an opening reception for “Patchwork: A Collaborative UTRGV Student Show” on Sept. 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Charles & Dorothy Clark Art Gallery on the Edinburg campus, 1201 W. University Dr., Edinburg. It will be on exhibit through Sept. 10. There will be another reception on Sept. 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Rusteberg Gallery, One W. University Blvd. in Brownsville. It will be on display there through Sept. 30.

September 8-9

  • Guest pianist Kate Ledger from the University of York, England, performs a concert of works for piano, toy piano and electronics. The Sept. 8 performance begins at 7 p.m. at the UTRGV Performing Arts Complex in Edinburg, 1201 W. University Dr. It is followed with workshops on Sept. 9 at 1 p.m. at the UTRGV BMSLC Multipurpose Room 1.217, One W. University Blvd., Brownsville. The program features premieres by RGV composer Monica Pearce and Colombian composer Michele Abondano, and works by Unsuk Chin, Lauren Redhead, and others. This concert is sponsored by the Center for Latin American Arts and the UTRGV School of Music’s Music Technology and Music Composition departments.

September 10

  • The UTRGV School of Music presents Alium Spiritum: I’ll Fly Away at 4:30 p.m. at the conclusion of the Fourth Annual TMEA All-State Workshop. Alium Spiritum, a professional vocal quartet based in Brownsville will be joined by the UTRGV Chamber Singers and high school students from Brownsville, San Benito, and Harlingen.   • The next ART_oLoGy class hosted by the Edinburg Cultural Arts Division will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dustin M. Sekula Memorial Library, 1906 S. Closner Blvd. All adults are invited to register for the free. Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis and will be limited to 40 students per class. Supplies will be provided.   • It’s Tigres vs Pachuca in the Rio Grande Valley. Medio Tiempo Soccer Group and H-E-B Park officially announce the arrival of the Liga MX Femenil. October 21-23

  • The 16th Annual 2022 Fiesta de Palmas will feature six stages of local and regional performers and new attractions at the McAllen Convention Center and will feature a line-up of live music, Fiesta’s Grand Carnival rides, diverse foods, Artisan Mercado, children’s interactivities and more. November 4
