Zulema Guadalupe Gonzalez Obituary

Zulema Guadalupe Gonzalez

MISSION – Zulema Guadalupe Gonzalez, 94, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, was surrounded by her family as she went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 4, 2022.

Zulema was born in Mission, Texas, on October 22, 1927, to Enemencio and Santos “Santitos” Villarreal.

Zulema loved traveling and always looking forward to her occasional trips to Las Vegas where her gambling spirit would unveil. Dancing was another of her life’s passions – especially the Jitterbug. Her sense of humor was second to none. We loved listening to her perfect recitation of the many different sayings and phrases that would come through her like a train’s rhythm and rhyme for all occasions – on time and on track.  We would like to say how much we love her and how much she will be missed. May our mother rest in eternal peace in the presence of God.

Zulema is survived by her three sons, Rolando (Estella) Gonzalez, Hector (Maricela) Gonzalez and Rene (Jenny) Gonzalez; three daughters, Maria Graciela (Rolando) Reyna, Elda G. (Valente) Olivarez and Aminta (Mario) Flores; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alvaro Gonzalez; two sons, Jose Alvaro and Cesar Gonzalez; and her parents.

Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 6, followed by a rosary at Flores Funeral Home in Mission.  A funeral service will be held on Friday, Oct. 7, at 9 a.m. in the chapel at Flores Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at La Piedad Cemetery in McAllen.

Pallbearers will be Valente Olivares Jr., Adrian Olivarez, Alvaro Gonzalez, Rolando Reyna, Ralph Reyna and Javerin Gonzalez. Honorary pallbearers are Alexi Gonzalez, Mari Manzanares, Roel Reyna and Roy Gonzalez.
