• The Valley Symphony Orchestra begins the season with the Romantic Masterpieces, featuring Dominic Cheli performing Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1. Dovrak’s Eighth Symphony, a work that travels from joyful to ominous and back again. Also on the program is Brahms’ Hungarian Dance No. 5. Tickets start at just $20. • The 32nd Annual H-E-B Feast of Sharing holiday dinner will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the McAllen Convention Center, 700 Convention Center Blvd. It is open to the public. Call the RGV Hispanic Chamber of Commerce at 956-928-0060 to volunteer or for information.
• In “Fugitive Scripts: A Concert of Computer Music Works,” Dr. Anthony T. Marasco, assistant professor of music technology and composition, performs original compositions on various electronic and computer music instruments. It begins at 3 p.m. at the UTRGV Performing Arts Complex, 1201 W. University Dr. in Edinburg.
• The Rite of Spring with Vesna Duo will be presented at 7 p.m. at the UTRGV Performing Arts Complex, 1201 W. University Dr., Edinburg. Arranged for marimba and piano, the performance featurers guest artists Ksenija Komljenović, percussion, and Liana Pailodze Harron, piano.

• The UTRGV Violin Studio Recital will begin at 7 p.m. at the UTRGV Library Theater, 1201 W. University Dr. in Edinburg.

November 12

• The UTRGV Piano Area Recital performance, Schumann and His Circle, begins at 7 p.m. and will be held in the TSC Performing Arts Center, 90 Taylor Ave., Brownsville. The annual UTRGV Piano Area recital will focus this year on the piano music of Robert Schumann (1810-1856), and composers associated with him, including his wife Clara Schumann, and works by Felix and Fanny Mendelssohn and Johannes Brahms.

November 13

• The UTRGV Guitar Ensemble recital will feature music by Latin-American composers from Cuba, Mexico and Brazil. It begins at 3 p.m. at the UTRGV Performing Arts Complex, 1201 W. University Dr. in Edinburg.

November 14

• The next ART_oLoGy class hosted by the Edinburg Cultural Arts Division will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dustin M. Sekula Memorial Library, 1906 S. Closner Blvd. All adults are invited to register for the free. Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis and will be limited to 40 students per class. Supplies will be provided. • UTRGV Theatre Department presents Moliére in the Albert L. Jeffers Theatre, 1201 W. University Dr., Edinburg. They bring French playwright Moliére’s wit to stage in a pair of short comedies – The Flying Doctor and Two Precious Maidens Ridiculed – for a farcical mixture of love, mayhem, trickery and more. • One of heavy metal’s all-time great bands, Judas Priest, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year with the launch of a new North American fall tour. The band is making a stop at Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg. The 50 Heavy Metal Years Tour also features Queensryche as the opening band. • The Valley Symphony Orchestra’s beloved holiday tradition, A Touch of Frost, returns and again features the Valley Symphony Chorale andselections from The Nutcracker and Handel’s Messiah. New in 2022, tenor David Sadlier will perform, and new works including a full symphony and chorale performance of Mariah Carey’s classic, All I Want for Christmas is You, are planned. Santa will be on hand for pictures to spread holiday cheer. It begins at 8 p.m. at the McAllen Performing Arts Center. • Pianist Haysun Kang performs with the Valley Symphony Orchestra for the Out of This World concert. This concert for family audiences will feature the bold and brassy music of the Pixar film The Incredibles as well as two movements (Mars and Jupiter) from Gustav Holst’s The Planets. Finally, Kang performs George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, a uniquely American composition that fuses jazz, ragtime, and bolero styles into one soaring work. • What happens when the minds of Picasso and Einstein come together – from the perspective and talents of actor and writer Steve Martin? Martin’s imagination explores the possibilities in the next UTRGV Theatre production of Picasso at the Lapin Agile. • The Valley Symphony Orchestra season finale, West Side Story, is joined by powerhouse pianist Asiya Korepanova performing Edvard Greig’s Piano Concerto in A minor on a program that also includes selections from Bernstein’s masterpiece musical theatre work West Side Story. The Latin rhythms of West Side Story paired with Korepanova’ uninhibited high-energy style will close out the Symphony of Stars season on a high note.
