March 3 – Hidalgo County Precinct 3 is collecting supplies for pets living at Yaqui Animal Rescue in Sullivan City. Donations will be accepted at Precinct 3’s administration office now through March 3. Requested items include cat and dog food – wet or dry; dog treats, and cleaning supplies – Dawn soap and bleach. Items can be dropped off at 724 Breyfogle Rd. in Mission. For more information, call Precinct 3 at 956-85-4509.

March 5– March begins the spring Hawk Watch at Bentsen-RGV State Park and the Hawk ID Workshop will be held at 1 p.m. on this date. Reservations are required for the workshop.  For the hawk watch, meet at the Hawk Tower between 9 and 11 a.m. daily. Call 956-584-9156 to reserve a spot. The park is located at 2800 S. Bentsen Palm Dr. in Mission.

March 6– The RGV Hispanic Chamber March Manic Mixer begins at 5:30 p.m. at Tony’s Grill in Weslaco at the Tierra Santa Golf Course. Bring business cards to network and a door prize for an opportunity to talk about your business.  For more information, call 956-928-0060.

March 8 – The RGV Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Women’s Committee will host the “Hats Off to Women of Distinction Awards Dinner & Expo”, at the Mission Event Center. The evening consists of a cocktail hour, while being entertained with piano music, drawings, Mariachi entertainment and the awards presentation.Tickets are $50 per person and $600 for tables of eight.  Vendor tables are $150 for RGVHCC members and $250 for nonmembers. March 11–  In celebration of National Plant A Flower Day, Quinta Mazatlán invites aspiring writers to explore and share their connection with nature through a writing class, “Exploring Nature Writing: Wonder in Wildflowers.” This class theme centers around “National Plant a Flower Day” and how flowers have become a part of messaging in the culture and traditions of the world. The class will be held from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Admission is $3 per person, with advance registration at quintamazatlan.ticketleap.com. For more information, call 956-681-3370.
