March 24
- The Valley Symphony Orchestra presents Carmen y Mas in the next concert at 8 p.m. at the McAllen Performing Arts Center. It features Mariachi Aztlán with the full symphony orchestra with the iconic music of the Carmen opera including Marquez’s Leyenda de Miliano and Bizet’s Carmen Suite. Individual and season tickets can be purchased in person at the MPAC box office, online at valleyorchestra.org, ticketmaster.com, or by calling the office at 956-661-1615. Educators (K-12 and higher education) with a valid school I.D. can purchase up to two tickets to VSO concerts for $20 each plus box office fees. Educators must show their ID at the box office to purchase tickets. Seating is at the discretion of box office and pending availability.
- The UTRGV opening reception for the exhibition of “World Within,”by Kathleen Kelley will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Visual Arts Gallery of the Edinburg campus, 1201 W. University Dr. in Edinburg. The exhibit will be on display March 27-31.
- The UTRGV School of Art & Design presents the opening reception for “In Memory of Me,”a group exhibition, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Rusteberg Gallery on the UTRGV campus in Brownsville. The exhibit will be on display March 19 to April 8.
March 24-25
- The UTRGV Dance Department presents the Senior Spring Concert 2023 at 7:30 p.m. both dates at the UTRGV Performing Arts Center, 1201 W. University Dr. in Edinburg. Admission is $10 for seniors and $5 for children.
- The South Padre Island Triathlon packet pickup will be on Friday, March 24, from 5 to 7 p.m. The race day schedule kicks off on Saturday at 6:15 a.m. and will end with awards at 9:30 a.m. The Triathlon is open to anyone ages 17 to 99, and there will be awards for the top three male and female participants in each age group. March 24-26
- The stage production of “Patricio El Penitente”will be performed by the Pharr Community Theater(PCT) troupe at the Development Research Center, 850 W Dicker Rd., Pharr. Show times are Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. Tickets are $8 and available at tinyurl.com/pctpatriciotickets or at the PCT website at pharrcommunitytheater.com. Tickets will also be available at the door, for $10 starting one hour before curtain, upon availability.
- The RGV Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will host the Second Annual Jalapeño Amateur Championship golf tournament at the Tierra Santa Golf Course at 1901 Club De Amistad in Weslaco. Entry fee is $150 and includes breakfast, lunch and beverages and a goody bag. There will be a hole-in-one contest to win a vehicle. March 25
- Hog Waddle 2023, featuring Tejano artists Grupo Siggno, will be held at the San Benito Fairgrounds. Tickets are $5 at the gate and children age 10 and under get in free. The family-friendly event features food, beverages, entertainment and a carnival that will be on site main at the Fairgrounds March 23 to 26. - The Fourth Annual Latino Theatre Festival runs from 12 to 10 p.m. at the Studio Theatre (ELABS 107) of the UTRGV Edinburg campus, 1201 W. University Dr. in Edinburg. The festival will present five plays with live music, all in Spanish. Admission is free. Call 956-665-3888 for more information.
March 26
- UTRGV’s Ballet Folkórico presents Alegría 202 3at 7:30 p.m. at the TSC Performing Arts Center, 90 Taylor Ave. in in Brownsville. In a collaboration of 40 dancers, 20 musicians, choreographers and scene designers, seven different states and regions will be represented during the show, including a pre-Hispanic piece, Tabasco, Huasteca Veracruzana, Calabaceados from Baja California Norte, Veracruz, Colima and Sinaloa. Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for senior citizens and students, and $5 for children. Patrons can purchase tickets one hour before each event or online at utrgv.edu/arts. April 15
- The International Museum of Art & Science will host the 15th Annual Night at the Brew-seum. The after-hours, age 21 and over event includes table-to-table sampling local fare and craft beer from 6 to 10 p.m. Live entertainment and activities add to the night’s festivities. General admission is $85 and $75 for IMAS members. Prices increased to $115 and $95, respectively. Prices increase March 20. Brew-seum has been a sold-out event each year; early ticket purchase is encouraged at sales.theimasonline.org.

- Somewhere: A Primer for the End of Days by Marisela Treviño Orta brings the UTRGV Theatre 2022-23 season to an end.Follow the drama of Cassandra and her brother on a journey, both “bittersweet and magical,” as they make a road trip to the final destination of Monarch butterflies. Show times are 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets range from $5 to $15. Shows start promptly at the time stated; no late entry will be allowed until intermission.
