April 14– Take in a night adventure for the Owl Prowl at 7:30 p.m. at Bentsen-RGV State Park, 2800 S. Bentsen Palm Dr., Mission. Reservation is required. April 15 – Keep McAllen Beautiful (KMB) will host Great American Clean-Up & Don’t Mess with Texas Trash-Off from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at McAllen Municipal Park, 1921 N Bicentennial Blvd.  Volunteers come from all walks of life are encouraged to participate and will be issued safety vests, gloves, trash bags and a free T-shirt, and will then be assigned a designated area to pick up litter. They are encouraged to transport themselves to assigned areas.  Once volunteers complete their clean-up and return to the park for entertainment, hot dogs, soda and drawing prizes.  To register, visit keepmcallenbeautiful.org or call 95-681-4562 for more details.

April 15 – The City of McAllen Passport Division Facility will host a Passport Fair from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the City of McAllen Passport Facility in the Downtown Parking Garage, 221 S. 15th St.Appointments are not required and walk-ins are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. April 16– Get out the walking shoes and water bottles for the Resaca Vieja Trail Hike at 8:30 a.m. at Bentsen-RGV State Park, 2800 S. Bentsen Palm Dr., Mission. April 19– The Edinburg Chamber of Commerce will host a marketing workshop for local business owners from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at their office at 602 W. University Dr., Edinburg. The “Art of Marketing” workshop will cover various topics, including the identification of target market, pricing strategy, and more. It will be led by Marivel Mata, senior business advisor at the UTRGV SBDC. Register online at edinburg.com or by calling 956-383-4974. Space is limited.

April 22 – Sign-up is underway for the 2023 Texas Adopt-A-Beach (AAB) Coastwide Spring Cleanup. For information about registration and cleanup locations, register at TexasAdoptABeach.org or show up on-site the day. Check-in at each site is 8:30 a.m. and the cleanup runs from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Volunteers are encouraged to wear closed-toe shoes and to bring sunscreen, a hat, and plenty of drinking water. April 22– The International Museum of Art & Science Young Adventurers Nature Art workshop will be held at 10 a.m. in the IMAS outdoor courtyard.to Celebrate Earth Day. This is for ages 3 to 6 with an accompanying adult. The children will create nature-inspired suncatchers. It runs 30 to40 minutes, including snack time. April 28 –The Texas General Land Office announced the application for the Homeowner Assistance and Reimbursement Programs will close at 5 p.m. on this date. Applications will continue to be reviewed in all eligible counties affected by flooding events in the Rio Grande Valley in 2018 and 2019.             Homeowners should visit recovery.texas.gov/harp to apply online, download a printable application, or get in-person assistance at a regional Homeowner Assistance and Reimbursement Programs office.
