Roy David Hinojosa Obituary

In Loving Memory of a Gentle Giant: Remembering a Life Filled with Love, Cheer and Dedication

MISSION – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved father, brother, friend, and avid sports enthusiast, Roy David Hinojosa.

He departed this world on Friday, August 25, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering dedication to his three children, Briana Hinojosa-Locke, Leandra Hinojosa and Roy Hinojosa, Jr. He is also survived by his three siblings, Carrie (John) Hill, Lynda (Joe) Negrete and Rocky (Dottie) Hinojosa.

Born on January 10, 1959, to the late Rene and Velia Lazo Hinojosa, Roy was a man who embraced life with open arms and a warm smile.

His passion for football and golf was unmatched, and he found solace and joy in the camaraderie of the game. Whether it was cheering for the Cowboys or Astros from the comfort of his living room or teeing off on the green with his closest friends turned brothers, Roy found immense happiness in these pursuits.

But beyond his love for sports, Roy was a true family man. He dedicated his life to his children, always putting their needs and dreams before his own. His unwavering support and guidance were a constant source of strength for them, and his love was everlasting. Roy was a pillar of strength (not just physically), always there to lend a listening ear, offer advice, or simply share a laugh.

Roy will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His gentle nature, infectious laughter, and unwavering love will forever be etched in our hearts.

As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, let us remember him for the joy he brought into our lives and the love he shared with his children.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at 3 p.m. at Ric Brown Funeral Home Chapel, 621 E. Griffin Parkway, Mission, with a celebration of his life to begin at 4 p.m.

May his soul be rejoicing with God in Heaven, and may his memory continue to inspire us to live life with the same passion and dedication that he did.
