July 17 – Hidalgo County Precinct 3 Commissioner Everardo Villarreal, in partnership with Driscoll Health Plan, invites families to the 2026 Back-to-School Fair from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Pavilion, 300 S. July 18 – South Texas Health System will host its sixth annual Transform Your Life Health & Wellness Day, a free community event featuring engaging, family-friendly activities that promote physical, mental and emotional well-being. Running from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Tres Lagos North Park, 4900 Tres Lagos Blvd. in McAllen, the event will feature Zumba, yoga, football, basketball, pickleball and other fitness activities, as well as healthy cooking demonstrations, mental wellness activities and a community resource expo showcasing local organizations that support healthy living. July 20-24 – The next IMAS Operation Imagination Summer Camp is Ecology Explorers for incoming 2nd and 3rd graders. Explore the world of living organisms big and small. Get up close in the MPU BioZone lab about insects, reptiles and more. Explorers will dissect owl pellets, master the Food Web puzzle, get microscopic at the microscope station, and learn more about biomes around the world. July 27 – The McAllen I.S.D. Back to School Bash 2026 will offer free goods and services for families who are getting ready for the 2026-27 school year. It runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at McAllen High School, 2021 La Vista Ave. MISD students can receive free school supplies, free breakfast and lunch for ages 1 to 18, free physicals, immunizations, haircuts, manicures, partner giveaways, and backpacks while supplies last. Students who have not yet registered to attend the district will be able to do it with the Student Outreach Department.
