Sharyland Independent School District’s School board unanimously named Robert O’Connor, Ph.D., as the lone finalist for superintendent at its Thursday meeting.
O’Connor is superintendent at Marble Falls ISD.
SISD contracted Waterford School Services to conduct a search after then-Superintendent Virginia Richter resigned last year. The district received 44 applications. The school board held two rounds of interviews and scheduled a visit to O’Connor’s district, according to a news release.
According to state law, Texas school boards name a lone finalist for the superintendent position and then must wait 21 days before signing a contract with the candidate.
“Dr. O’Connor is a highly successful, experienced school superintendent,” Board President Noel Garza stated. “The school board was most impressed with his dedication and commitment to the success of all students.”
