Big 7 wrestlers state bound

Seven boys and seven girls from the seven Mission, Sharyland and La Joya high schools, the Big 7, have qualified for the University Interscholastic League’s (UIL’s) State Wrestling Championship meet which is being held today and tomorrow at the Berry Center in Cypress, Texas.

With six wrestlers qualified for state, Sharyland Pioneer leads the way among the Big 7 5A schools while La Joya Juarez-Lincoln leads the way among the 6A schools with four wrestlers qualified.

5A Boys
Sharyland Pioneer: Diego Serna (106 lbs.), Angel Avila (120 lbs.), Jose Rodriguez (145 lbs.)
Sharyland High: Gabriel Martinez (285 lbs.)

6A Boys
La Joya Juarez-Lincoln: Carlos Doria (126 lbs.), Sergio Morales (152 lbs.), Alexander Silva (170 lbs.)

5A Girls
Sharyland Pioneer: Alejandra Briere (102 lbs.), Emily Trevino (119 lbs.), Camila Flores (215 lbs.)
La Joya Palmview: Ashley Aleman (148 lbs.), Judith Rivas (165 lbs.)

6A Girls
La Joya Juarez-Lincoln: Destiny Garza (102 lbs.)
La Joya High: Lesly Ramirez (128 lbs.)
