Five more COVID-19 deaths were reported in Hidalgo county along with 375 new cases of the disease.
The deaths included three men and two women from the cities of Hidalgo, McAllen, Mercedes and Mission and their ages ranged from theirs 60s to over the age of 70. There have now been 2,121 COVID-19 deaths in the county.
With the new reported cases, the total amount of known COVID-19 cases in the county now stands at 47,109. Of those cases, 2,551 of them remain active.
219 county residents are being treated in area hospitals with COVID-19 related complications as 79 of them are placed in intensive care units.
