  • The UTRGV Flute Studio Recital premieres at 7 p.m. on the UTRGV Patron of the Arts page on www.youtube.com. Students and faculty members of the UTRGV Flute Studio, under the direction of Dr. Krista Jobson, celebrates the work of the studio members studio while preparing students for their full recitals, auditions, competitions, and juries.

  • The International Museum of Art & Science Homeschool Days: Engineering begins at 2 p.m. for 3rd to 5th graders to learn the basics of mechanical engineering through simple mechanics. An activity kit is provided, but supplies like scissors, glue, and writing and coloring tools are not included. Registrants will be emailed a pickup confirmation, a digital copy of the lesson, and the webinar link. Cost is $6 for IMAS members and $10 for general registration.   • The 2021 Virtual RGV Coastal Expo, hosted by the Texas Parks & Wildlife, City of Edinburg and the Edinburg World Birding Center (EWBC), invites elementary students, parents and educators to virtually experience coastal ecology, South Texas wildlife and outdoor adventures featuring a mix of downloadable activities, live virtual events, interactive game shows, and a range of pre-recorded videos that can be incorporated into classroom lessons. March 3

  • This is the deadline date for entries in the 2021 “Treasures of the Texas Coast Children’s Art Contest.” All Texas students (public, private, and home-schooled) in grades K-6 are invited to participate. Artwork should be based on the theme “Treasures of the Texas Coast” and portray why the Texas coast is important or noteworthy to the participating student. The top 40 pieces of art will appear in a 2022 calendar which will be distributed throughout the state. All entries must be postmarked by Wednesday, March 3, 2021.   • The RGV Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s South Texas Sporting Skeet Shoot will be held at Mi Ranchito Sporting Clays, Hwy. 281 and Old Fountain Rd. in Linn San Manuel. Registration begins at 8 a.m. Clays start flying at 9:15 a.m.  Shooters provide their own gun, ammunition, hear and eye protection. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.  Door prizes, bucket drawings and a live auction round out the event. Fees are $300 for a three-person team, Annie Oakley is $20 per person, and Mulligans are $10 each, with a maximum of four per shooter.  Bell Pepper Shots are $20 per person. Prizes are $900 for first place, $600 for second and $300 for third.  Overall high top male and female shooters receive $100 each.  Youth division, age 17 and under, receive a first place buckle for the male and female shooters.
