History teacher at Juan Diego Academy accused of having improper relationship with student
The Mission Police Department on Tuesday arrested a history teacher at Juan Diego Academy accused of having sex with a student.

Officers arrested Mario Javier Delgado Jr., 31, of Edinburg, who is accused of engaging in a sexual relationship with a student. Delgado confessed when confronted by the principal, a dean, and a counselor.
“Yes,” Delgado said, according to the criminal complaint against him. “I did it with her once.”
Delgado remained at the Hidalgo County jail on Wednesday night and couldn’t be reached for comment.
During an interview at the Children’s Advocacy Center in Mission, the student said the sexual relationship started in March 2020 and continued until April 2021.
“The victim describes several incidents where she had sexual intercourse with Mr. Delgado on several occasions inside his car, at his house, and she performed oral sex on him at the Juan Diego Catholic Academy,” according to the criminal complaint.
In one instance, the student said that she performed oral sex on Delgado in his classroom.
“Victim stated she would also exchange nude videos and pictures of herself with the defendant,” according to the criminal complaint.
Officers arrested Delgado on Tuesday. He’s charged with improper relationship between educator and student, a second-degree felony.
A judge set bond at $100,000, according to Hidalgo County jail records.
If convicted, Delgado faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a fine not to exceed $10,000.
