- The Gladys Porter Zoo’sannual holiday celebration, Zoo Nights and Lights, will have the pathways lit and activities running from 6 to 9 p.m. each night. There will be live musical and dance performances, Christmas karaoke and book readings. Shop at the arts and crafts show and the GPZ gift shop. Guests will vote for their favorite tree in the staff contest. The price of admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children. Tickets are available on the zoo website or at the gate, or receive free admission by donating a new, unwrapped toy for the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. - Maestro Peter Dabrowksi leads the Valley Symphony Orchestraas they continue the VSO’s 70th anniversary season with the annual holiday tradition“A Touch of Frost”and the return of the Symphony Chorale under the direction of Dr. Sean Taylor. - The Museum of South Texas Historypresents Fiesta de Nochebuena, a borderland-spirit holiday event from1 to 5 p.m. There will be a Posada, music and interactive activities, along with vendors selling seasonal delicacies and arts and crafts. Admission is $9 for adults ages 18 and over; $6 for seniors ages 62 and up, plus active military and students ages 13 and up; $5 for children ages 4 to 12; and free for children ages 3 and younger. - UTRGV Modern Band Ensembles and faculty bandcombine for a concert at 7 p.m. at the UTRGV Performing Arts Complex, 1201 W. University Dr., Edinburg. As the students learned new instruments, they made contemporary popular music of varied styles. The show features The Minör Revisiöns, a pop/rock band made up of UTRGV music faculty members. Admission is free.

- The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Tuesday that the women’s basketball team will host the second annual UTRGV South Padre Island Classic, a four-game tournament featuring UTRGV, UTSA, Liberty and Grand Canyon at the South Padre Island Convention Centre.
