VIPERS FALL TO SKYFORCE

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Feb. 1, 2024) – The Rio Grande Valley Vipers (11-3), the NBA G League affiliate of the Houston Rockets, fell 108-99 to the Sioux Falls Skyforce (11-3) on Thursday night at Sanford Pentagon.

The opening basket was hit by Sioux Falls with 10:33 on the clock. The Skyforce then ran away with the lead, but with less than five minutes to go the Vipers took its first lead of the game and set the score at 12-11. The Vipers were then stripped from the lead and Sioux Falls walked away with a 28-17 advantage.

Sioux Falls started off with the lead in the second quarter until RGV tied the game 40-40 with less than two minutes to go.  That was the turning point of the game as the visiting team walked into the half with a 46-44 lead.

RGV had a nine-point lead with six minutes to go in the third and a score of 64-55, but Sioux Falls went on a 14-0 run and made the score 69-64 in its favor. Sioux Falls remained with the advantage and closed off the third quarter with a score of 74-71.

In the fourth quarter Sioux Falls dominated over the Vipers which resulted in a 108-99 victory for the home team.

Jalen Lecque led the Vipers with 20 points followed by Ray Spalding with 19 points, Josh Reaves with 18 points and Trhae Mitchell with 14 points. Darius Days had 10 rebounds.

Justin Chmpagnie led all scorers with a double-double with 32 points and 11rebounds. Jamaree Bouyea had 24 points and Caleb Daniels had 20 points.

The road trip continues for the Vipers as the team will travel to Ontario to take on Raptors 905 on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 1:00 p.m. CST at Paramount Fine Foods Centre. Fans can view the game on www.NBAGLeague.com. For more information visit www.rgvipers.com.
