Palmview PD Introduces Newest & Youngest Member of the Force

Special to The Progress Times

PALMVIEW, Texas – The City of Palmview welcomes Palmview PD’s only four-legged police officer.  Edo who turns two on February 10 comes to us from Zakrzew, Poland.

He is a Belgian Shepherd trained in narcotics detection. He underwent extensive K9 Training at the Global K9 Training Academy in Somerset, Texas, before coming to Palmview.  Officer Edo is certified and is a member of the National Narcotic Detector Dog Association (NNDDA).

Police Chief Jose Trevino says having a canine unit is a huge benefit to the department because it will be easier to detect and keep drugs off our City streets.  Officer Edo will also be assisting DEA, HIS, FBI, and other local police departments.

The PD acquired Edo for $12,500 with asset forfeiture funds.  Money the chief says was put to good use by investing in tools that will help in drug interdiction efforts.

His first deployment was assisting the DEA and DPS with a traffic stop where he found more than $29,000 in cash.

The City of Palmview proudly welcomes its newest member of the department.  Please help us welcome Officer Edo.

Welcome Dog. I know you will do a great job sniffing out narcotics. Just wished you could also sniff out crooked cops and corrupt politicians. That truly would clean our streets. God bless you Dog. May he protect you at all times.
