Investigation found La Joya ISD coach masturbated on campus, posted videos online

An investigation conducted by La Joya ISD last summer found Juarez-Lincoln High School Head Boys’ Basketball Coach Joseph “Kaz” Kazmierczak recorded videos of himself masturbating on campus and posted them on social media.

The district suspended Kazmierczak the day after it learned about the videos.

La Joya ISD says he’s no longer an employee.

Kazmierczak directed requests for comment to his attorney, who did not respond.

A longtime teacher at the district, Kazmierczak was recently a member of La Joya AFT’s executive board, though the union says he no longer holds a leadership position with them.

The district released an investigation report and exhibits related to it last month in response to an open records request filed by the Progress Times.

According to that report, a woman contacted La Joya ISD Athletic Director Victor Garza in July saying that her niece had urgent information.

The niece, a former student, called Garza and told him her brother had recognized Kazmierczak in content posted by an account on X, formerly known as Twitter, which “had lots of videos of himself masterbating (sic) and had retweeted pornographic videos.”

The account, RGV Funtimes, “had nude pictures and showed Coach Kaz ‘jacking off’ in a videos (sic) that had been shot on school grounds.”

Garza relayed the information to La Joya ISD Police Chief Leonardo “Lenny” Sanchez that evening and the district placed Kazmierczak on paid administrative leave the next day.

“He refused to give a statement and stepped outside to call legal counsel,” the report says. “His demeanor changed once we stated that he may be associated with an ‘X’ account with the handle ‘RGV Funtimes.’”

The former student told police she hadn’t been sent or shown any of the illicit videos by Kazmierczak.

An exhibit attached to the report notes that RGV Funtimes was no longer viewable after the meeting.

The account appears to have been deleted.

According to the report, an internal investigator spent about a month looking into the allegations, confirming Kazmierczak’s presence in the videos, downloading them onto a thumb drive, reviewing his access to websites during school hours on school devices, and comparing his time sheets with posting times from RGV Funtimes.

A screenshot from one of the videos posted by RGV Funtimes shows Kazmierczak shirtless, eyes squinted and lips puckered.

“I think I’m ready!!” the caption reads.

The investigation found that Kazmierczak was the onanist in the videos and that he’d violated a bevy of ethical standards.

Jaime Miller, chief of talent development and human capital, recommended Kazmierczak be fired.

“After a thorough investigation into the allegations against Coach Kazmierczak, it has been determined that significant violations of the Code of Ethics and district policies have occurred,” she wrote. “The investigation revealed that inappropriate content was posted under the coach’s identification, which contravenes professional conduct, moral integrity, and ethical standards.”
