- “Bright Ideas,” a comedy combining ambition and parenting, will be performed by the UTRGV Theatre Department at the UTRGV Albert L. Jeffers Theatre, 1201 W University Dr, Edinburg. - UTRGV School of Music Opera Theatre presents scenes from Franz Lehar’s “The Merry Widow.” The first two performances will be held Friday and Saturday, Nov. 21 and 22, at the TSC Performing Arts Center Red Hall, 90 Taylor Ave., in Brownsville. The third performance will be staged Friday, Dec. 5, at the UTRGV Performing Arts Complex, 1201 W. University Dr., Edinburg. All performances begin at 7 p.m., and admission is free. - The UTRGV Horn Choir and the RGV Trumpet Guild present their High Brass Fall Concert at 4 p.m. at the UTRGV Performing Arts Complex, 1201 W. University Dr., Edinburg. The program features both traditional favorites and new works for horn and trumpet ensembles. The Horn Choir is led by Dr. Monica Martinez, and the Trumpet Guild is led by Dr. Alex Sanso. - The UTRGV Studio BFA Exhibition goes on display at the Visual Arts Building Gallery, 2412 US-281 Business in Edinburg. It can be viewed 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. Admission is free.

- It’s “Home for the Holidays” as the UTRGV School of Music ensembles present a concert to ring in the season. On Nov. 25, it will be held at the UTRGV Performing Arts Complex, 1201 W. - The UTRGV Distinguished Artist Series will host the all-female group Mariachi Mariposas in two performances. They are scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m. and Dec. 13 at 3 p.m. at the UTRGV Performing Arts Center, 1201 W. University Dr., Edinburg. Mariachi Mariposas began their musical journey in the summer of 2012 in the Rio Grande Valley as a 12-member mariachi. The group launched to provide musical opportunities to female musicians who shared the same love of the art of mariachi music. Tickets for the performance are $10 and available at utrgv.edu/arts.
