  • The next La Cancha Watch Party in McAllen for FIFA World Cup 2026™ will begin at 8 p.m. to view USA vs. Paraguay. The events kick off at Oval Park, 700 Convention Center Blvd. Bring lawn chairs, picnic blankets, family, friends, and pets and experience the action on a giant viewing screen surrounded by food trucks, an artisan market, local vendors, live entertainment, cultural performances, and activities for all ages.

  • The UTRGV Ballet Folklórico presents “Ouroboros,” as the group reimagines Mexican folk dance through a fusion of folklórico, tap, flamenco, and modern dance. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday in the UTRGV Performing Arts Complex, 1201 W. University Dr., Edinburg. June 16, 23 & 30

  • The Frontera Audubon Society, 1101 S. Texas Blvd., in Weslaco, will host three art classes: Session 1, Drawing; Session 2, Painting, Session 3, Creative Wellness. Classes are open to anyone 16 and over and run from 2 to 4 p.m. To enroll, contact Frontera Audubon Society Tuesday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., at 956-968-3275. Cost is $65 for the full three-week course or $25 for a single session. Art supplies will be provided. Attendees should bring a printed image of a favorite bird, flower, or nature scene for additional inspiration.

  • The UTRGV Summer Saxophone Ensemble Concert begins at 7 p.m. at the UTRGV Performing Arts Complex, 1201 W. University Dr., Edinburg. Tickets are $10, available at utrgv.edu/arts. Over 50 saxophone and percussion participants will perform pieces by Sousa, Tomsett, Bryant, and Mangione, along with performances by small ensembles.   • The South Texas College Theatre & Dance Department’s season finale is the Fifth Annual South Texas New Play Festival. STXNPF returns with a full workshop production of a standout play from last year’s staged readings, plus three new scripts selected through a blind submission process. It takes place at the Cooper Center for Performing Arts, 3200 W. Pecan Blvd., McAllen. General admission is $5 for the productions. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door (cash/check only).   • Texas Cook’Em: High Steaks in Edinburg has announced is an official host location for the America250 Block Party. The Edinburg event is free and open to the public. The signature cook-off competition tradition will have a variety of food and retail vendors, live entertainment, family-friendly activities, and community attractions throughout the day. Additional activities include the following: Firecracker 5K, Rogue Boxing Independence Day Night of Champions, Cars and Stripes Carshow, Family Fun Zone, Freedom Jump Skydive Event, Food and Market Vendors, and Sizzle and Stripes Fireworks Show to close out the evening.   • The 20th Annual Empty Bowls event for the Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg. Empty Bowls luncheon and silent auction offers an afternoon for guests to sample tastings from more than 35 participating restaurants while supporting the Food Bank. Tickets will be available closer to the event at BertOgdenArena.com. Attendees can select a hand-painted bowl to take home as a reminder of the ongoing need to help ensure every family has access to food.
