- The South Texas College Art Department and Library Art Gallery will host “South Texas Ceramic Showdown: Reimagination,” featuring two full days of hands-on workshops, artist talks and exhibitions, all free and open to the public. June 12-27, July 10-25
- The Pharr Community Theater will offer two Summer Acting Camps where students will learn about acting, movement and vocal warm-ups, practicing scenes, writing dialogue and directing. The first camp for boys and girls ages 9 to 12 will run June 12 to 27. The second camp for boys and girls ages 13 to 17 will run July 10 to 25. Both 12-hour camps will be held on Thursdays and Fridays from 9 to 11 a. m. and will culminate with a half-hour performance on the last day of class, for parents and friends to attend. Camp cost per student is $150. Class size is limited to the first 12 to register. Complimentary water, juices and fresh fruit will be offered during class. - The Tower Theater of Weslaco will be holding auditions for the thought-provoking stage adaptation of George Orwell’s “1984” directed by Brittany Gruhot. Auditions will be held at the theater, 120 S. Kansas Ave, Weslaco at 7 p.m. on Friday and 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Show dates will be Aug. 22-24 and 29-31. - The City of Edinburg invites dads and their children to beat the heat together at a “Daddy & Me” event on from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Edinburg Municipal Pool, 125 Mark S. Peña Dr. There will be cannonball contest, drawings, snacks, games, and more. To participate in water activities, bring pool essentials like swimsuits, sunscreen, and towels. The event is free of charge and open to families in Edinburg and the surrounding community. Residents are encouraged to call 956-381-5631 to RSVP or for more information.

- The Cinderella Ballet is coming to the McAllen Performing Arts Center on Nov. 5. Tickets are now on sale the 130-city tour of the production. World Ballet Company’s classically styled production of Cinderella, with original choreography by Estonia’s Marina Kesler, is designed for a modern viewer. It encompasses humor, charm, and dancing by a multinational cast of 40 top-flight professional dancers from 10 countries. Tickets range in price from $28 to $100.
