OBIT-Rene Peña

Rene Peña, 58, passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at his home.

Born on June 6, 1955, he was a Valley native and a 1974 graduate of Sharyland High School. He was employed by Frito-Lay for over 30 years.

Survivors include his wife, Cindy; son, Cody; daughter, Brittany; mother, Juanita Martinez; and siblings, Maria Zepeda of Fort Worth, Armando Peña, Annie Peña-Garza, San Juanita Hernandez, Juan Martinez and Norma Lopez.

He was preceded in death by his father, Tino Peña, and stepfather, Santos Martinez.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 29, from 5 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary at Legacy Chapels in Edinburg. The funeral mass will be held on Friday, May 30, at 11 a.m., at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen. The family will gather for a reception after the service at Legacy Chapels.
