OBIT – F. Craig Cooper
MISSION – Franklin Craig Cooper, 70, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2017, at Mission Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Cooper was born in 1946 in Port Arthur. His family moved to the Rio Grande Valley in 1953 where he graduated from Edinburg High School. He then served in the U.S. Navy for four years and later graduated with a degree in Greek studies from Abilene Christian University.
Following a 20-year career in banking career, he served as Director of Missions at the Pharr Church of Christ with over a dozen church plantings in the Valley and Mexico becoming the fruits of his labor. God used Craig’s talents, ambition and passions to bring positive change to the people living in the colonias.
As God used him to do His works, Craig’s spiritual posture is captured in Psalm 115: “Not to us, LORD, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness.”
Survivors include his wife, Janet Cooper; children, Cindy Pruitt and Casey Cooper; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford F. and Margaret F. Cooper.
Visitation will be held from on Tuesday, March 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kreidler Funeral Home in McAllen. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 29, at 10 a.m. at the Church of Christ, 625 E. Sam Houston, Pharr. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery.
