In response to the Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), the US Department of Housing and Urban Development has notified the City of Mission of a special allocation of the Community Development Block Grant Program from the third round of the CARES Act in the amount of $514,625, which must be used to prevent, prepare for, and respond to the coronavirus pandemic. This allocation is authorized by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES ACT), enacted as Public Law 116-136 on March 27, 2020. The City of Mission proposes to amend the 2019 Annual Action Plan to include this funding. Interested agencies and nonprofit organizations who seek funding are encouraged to apply. Eligible COVID-19 activities include: Public Services: Testing, Diagnosis, Food Distribution, increase capacity of Health Services, Rent/Mortgage/Utility Assistance; etc.; Public Facilities: Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Construction of facilities for testing, etc.; Building and Improvements including: Assistance to Businesses including Economic Development Assistance; etc.
Proposed projects must meet a CDBG national objective, qualify as an eligible activity and prevent, prepare for, and respond to the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19). A Virtual Public Hearing will be held on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at 5:30 pm to solicit comments for the Community Development Block Grant Program funds (CDBG-CV3). Interested parties are encouraged to attend virtually and make their views known or may submit written comments to addresses shown above. Comments received will be taken into consideration for the proposed Substantial Amendment for the 2019 Annual Action Plan.
