  • The International Museum of Art & Science exhibition opens for “Paintings from Spanish America (1600-1800) from the Carl and Marilynn Thoma Foundation Collection.” It will be on view until May 25.   • The Valley Symphony Orchestra presents “Cocktails con Fuerza” at 8 p.m. at the TSC Performing Arts Center, 90 Taylor Ave., Brownsville. It will be a night on the town with the music of Gershwin, Ellington, Schubert, Bernstein, and Sinatra, along with the South Texas premiere of Grammy and Latin Grammy nominated Gabriela Ortiz’s Antrópolis.   • The Harlem Globetrotters are heading back on the road and heading to Bert Ogden Arena, 4900 S. I-69 in Edinburg. They will be taking on the Washington Generals on Feb. 11, 2025. For more information about the Globetrotters and the tour, visit harlemglobetrotters.com.

  • The next IMAS After Dark, an adults-only event to explore the museum, will be Crafty Connections from 6 to 8 p.m. Tickets are $40 per person and $25 for IMAS members and can be purchased at sales.theimasonline.org/PatronEducation.aspx?pid=1910.   • The International Museum of Art & Science Guild is hosting their Seventh Annual 5K Run for Art at 7:30 a.m. at Fireman’s Park in McAllen, at 201 N. 1st Street. This family-oriented event caters to people of all ages and all capabilities. Snacks and water will be available in the University Draft House parking lot. February 17

  • The South Texas College Library Art Gallery will host a community art exhibition, “The Moon as Muse: A Love Letter in Art & Verse” from March 5 to 16. This is the deadline for artists to submit pieces that reflect the theme of the exhibit. STC students, faculty, staff, alumni and general community are invited to participate. The opening reception will be held March 5 from 5 to 7 p.m. Participation and admission is free. To enter, complete the information available at forms.office.com/r/KQH375vmv6.   • Closing the UTRGV Theatre season is a production geared for the entire family. Carmela Full of Wishes, adapted by Alvaro Saar Rios, from the book by Matt de la Peña. Following young Carmela as she embarks on a whimsical journey filled with magical realism and cultural reflection, this play provides an exploration of identity and the power of dreams.
